Task Force receives block grant for THMS solar panels

The Green Energy Task Force is one step closer to installing a photovoltaic solar panel on the roof of Turkey Hill Middle School now that a $150,000 community block grant has been approved.
The grant was made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“We needed the grant in order to be economically feasible,” John Londa, Director of Facilities and Grounds for the Lunenburg School District said.
The grant money will go toward buying a 91-kilowatt solar array at the Turkey Hill Middle School, according to a press release from Representative Jennifer Benson’s office.
The cost of the project was estimated in December at $454,640, but Londa said the task force did not put the bid forward.
